Alex Oliver

Research Fellow

Alex has bachelor degrees in Law and Science and the University Medal in Law from the University of New South Wales. Alex's current research interests include Australian and international public diplomacy, pathways to leadership in Asia, and Australia's diplomatic infrastructure. Most recently, Alex was part of the research team preparing the Report of the Lowy Institute's Blue Ribbon Panel on Australia's instruments of international policy.

Before joining the Institute, Alex was a senior associate at Mallesons Stephen Jaques Solicitors in Sydney, specialising in intellectual property and consumer law. She previously worked as an executive in marketing and advertising for multinationals Unilever and Leo Burnett Advertising.

Interpreting the Aid Review
