Reader riposte: Tests and rumours of tests

by Sam Roggeveen - 9 September 2008 8:35AM

Put down your umbrellas. It seems we're not going to be showered with space debris from another Chinese anti-satellite test just yet. I reported the Steve Clemons-inspired (and now retracted) rumour yesterday, and today Jeffrey Lewis (Arms Control Wonk) responds to my post:

False alarm.

Although I believe that USA 193 gave China a ready made excuse in the event that it chooses to resume ASAT testing, Steve jumped the gun. There are always rumors about impending Chinese ASAT tests, but I don't have anything specific and credible to report. When I have something solid, you'll see it on my blog.

Interpreting the Aid Review

This is the archive of a Lowy Institute blog which ran from January to April of 2011. It was published to debate the Gillard Government's independent aid review, which was then in its research and consultation phase. We offer this archive as a service to researchers and the general public.
